I just saw this on Daniel Drinker's blog. It is a clip from The Tonight Show with Barack Obama. I am speechless, honestly. Our own president making a jab at The Special Olympics? Nice example, eh?
I saw that on another blog, I am so horrified by that comment. What an ignorant thing to say! I guess I am speechless. Sometimes it feels like it is us against the world.
Ugh. I know. Not even sure what to say, my mind just fast forwards 14 years when this will make sense to Myles and his future siblings, how are we supposed to protect our kids? I get worn out just thinking about it.
My husband and I saw this and I thought for someone who comes from a races that has had so much intolerance and judgement places on them and how so many in the world talked about how monumental it was to have a black president and how their ancestors would be so proud for what they had to fight for, equality, justice, etc, you would think of all people President Obama would understand the sensitivity of what he said. My impression of our President, not that I had much of one has definitely dropped.
My husband told me about it this morning after listening to the news on the radio. It just made my heart hurt. I was told that he profusely apologized, but the thing is... you can't take it back. It's just another example of how it is okay to just flippantly make comments with our kids at the bottom. *SIGH*
This was very sad...I actually was forwarded a link from Cathy to the white house and made my comment...heard there was an apology to the Special Olympics...but still...come on MR. PRESIDENT!

I think it was the arrogance in which he made his comment that is so obscene to me. I'm just totally disappointed. Such poor judgement. I'm not a fan.
I can sum up my feelings in one word...SAD
I just sent him a link to my blog post today.
Very disappointing. :(
