A little bit of fresh air.

Earlier this morning, I logged into the computer to check my email. I was unsuspectingly greeted with a news story on the Yahoo page about the latest Family Guy episode. I didn't read the whole story nor did I click on the little box where I could have watched the bit from the episode where apparently a cartoon version of a girl with Down syndrome is shown. I also chose not to listen to the little boy, Stewie, sing a song from the episode titled, "Down syndrome Girl".

Nope. Not gunna happen, not today. Whether it is offensive or not, I am not going there right now. I don't have it in me.

I closed my laptop.

I got up and motivated. I gathered and then dressed my kids in their million little cold weather layers, and headed out the door.

Ahh.

This is much better.

A little bit of fresh air.

And a lot of perspective.

Beautiful kids you got there!!! I haven't been tuning in on that stuff either. I think one fuels the stuff by reading and watching it. Better just to hold them tighter and make yourself stronger and better than all that garbage!

I just worked up the nerve to watch it - finished it about ten minutes ago. I've never been a fan of the show, just because it never makes me laugh. Anyway, the episode is likely not what you expect. There are a few little Ds jokes, but they aren't all that bad. There is a long song, but it's about a teen guy getting ready to go on a date with a girl who has Ds. The song is about making him presentable for her, not really about her. And then they go out, go back to her place, and she is sort of bossy, and he loses it. He says he heard people with Ds are supposed to be kind and sweet, and she isn't. She's as mean as any other normal person. And he leaves. That's it. It's actually sort of interesting. Like I said, not what you expect. I don't think it's a particularly good episode, but I also don't think it's horrifying.

Good call on that one! I didn't read it, either. Why bother? Love the cute pictures, looks like lots of fun!

Oh good gracious that hat is just freaking cute!!!

I saw a blurb on the news last night about the Family Guy thing. I'm happy to say that I've never been a fan of FG, and never will be.

Looked like they had a great time out in the snow.
I also try and stay away from reading/watching things that like. I mean REALLY? Why would someone find that funny?
Dylan and Cassie are getting so big and look adorable in their winter layers. I don't know about you though but I am ready to pack up all those layers.

Love your photos. I tend not to open and watch stuff I normally find offensive, like the family guy, so I'd have done the same thing. But, it's nice that Dan did view it and let us know that it's pretty benign and not likely to offend. I'm glad to hear that. I still think your kids benefited more from a little fun and mom not getting bogged down by the unimportant stuff.
