It used to be the ball...

...but now we have moved on to books.

They are Dylan's newest obsession.

I often wonder why, throughout the day, I continue to clean them up and stack them neatly under our coffee table, because sure enough, the minute I turn my back, they wind up back on the floor scattered all around him.

His favs are books that contain either bunnies (his best new sign) or books with mirrors.

Once he spots a mirror, he'll move in real close, look himself in the eye and smile. "Hey! I know you!".

I absolutely love that Dylan is motivated by books. As I read, "Simple Fist Words: Let's Talk" to him the other day, I realized that he does know ALL of these first words. He may not speak them, but he can sign each and every one. He knows what they are and he understands their meaning. He IS learning! His vocabulary is increasing every day as is his desire to communcate with us. It is such an amazing skill to witness. I am so grateful that he has the motivation to learn and that he has such an interest in gaining knowledge through books.

Cool, cool stuff...

Such cute pictures! I too am excited that Colin loves books! I think it's such an important part of a child's development! I particularly LOVE the picture of Dylan looking at himself in the mirror! Super cute!

Of course he likes books, that smart little cookie of yours!! These pics remind me so much of Landon.....what great little buddies they would make:) For now, they can be "virtual" buddies......hey, we take what we can get..lol!! I too am so excited that Landon REALLY enjoys books and being read to. Now he babbles away pointing at the books as if he is reading to me...LOVE IT!!

I love the pics of him looking in the mirror. Priceless! We have that same book with the mirror "Y is for You". My kids love that page too! He is getting to be such a big boy and yes, he understands so much more than you know. That's why signing is such a great thing to do.

we have the same "scattering" of books all over our family room, whitney's room & anne's room... it is an exercise in futility to clean them up sometimes :) i love that he can sign all of his "first words" - way to go dylan!!!

That is so wonderful! Cute and adorable pics of course.

Biiiiiig sigh.....We cannot trust Benjamin around *any* books. Especially board books. He chews on them. And not innocently, I might add. We have board books that are almost completely unrecognizable b/c they look like a mangy dog has gotten ahold of them. :(

Great pictures of your little man. Can you believe our June babies are almost two?!? Where does the time go. It is truly amazing to see kids learn isn't it.
