Well, I'm tired. Why isn't he?

I have to admit that I wasn't too thrilled about having to take Dylan to the pediatrician's office yesterday for a 4 month check up or to his cardiology appointment today for that matter. Guess who was pretty happy about it, though? Yep, the Sleepless Wonder.

See, I have been slightly exhausted because Dylan has reverted back to his newborn baby's feeding schedule, ie: feeding every 2-3 hours...even at night. I have heard that this is pretty common after surgery, especially because Dylan has lost almost 2 lbs and is trying to make up for lost time. Good for Dylan. Not so good for Mama.

Not to mention that he has lost all interest in napping during the day.

So, yesterday Dylan got his second Synagis injection as well as one 4 month vaccination. He did well, but I just felt so badly for him having to go through more pokes and prods so soon after his surgery.

We also got good reports at his cardiology appointment today. The doctor said that his incision looks well, his heart sounded good and that we would be able to stop his Lasix in one month. I'm not sure if I mentioned this before, but there is still a small hole in Dylan's heart. We were told that because it only measures less than 2 mm, it should not be a problem. The cardiologist said that it may even close on it's own in the next few months. We'll go back in 3 months to see.

If you can, would you please send us a quick 'hole closing' vibe... just to be on the safe side?

Thank you : )

Laurie, thank you so much for sharing this beautiful photo and for the update :). After her surgery, my niece also had little hole in her IMPROVED HEART!!! and it closed on it’s own. :)

That is the cuteist picture. He looks back to his old self! I am glad he had two great checkups!!
It is interesting to read that Cleo's neice had the same little hole and it healed. Good news, and positive hole closing thoughts heading Dylan's way.
Man you would think after all he has been through he would be tired... Lots of love

Vibes being sent! :) I just have to say that DYLAN LOOKS AMAZING!!! And you are obviously doing a wonderful job because he looks so happy! That is great that he is trying to gain his weight back and already has so much energy! I can tell he is going to do so good now. Sorry mama, though, about the lack of sleep! I bet it makes up for it to see him doing so well. Good job you two!

Oh Laurie...Welcome to my napless world! Lily doesn't want to nap at all. Luckily she's happy to play with toys in her play pen so I can get a few things done. Let's look at it in a positive light...Our babies have energy now and want don't want to miss a thing!!!

I will tell you that the sleeping through the night thing is going to get better. It took about 3 weeks, but we are back to normal now. Now if I could just get her to sleep past 6 am....sigh!

I'm so glad to hear things went well at the appointments. I hope that little hole closes...praying that it does!

Hello! Just wanted to say hi and that I remember Georgia reverted to some newborn things right after surgery, but it went away FAIRLY quickly. And she was 6 months!!! Also, they left a small hole in G's heart as well because it was small and VERY low in the heart so too dangerous to get to (to explain briefly). Though they have not done an echo in awhile all her doctors report hearing NO murmur and she has no ill effects from it (we go to the cardio again in December). Oh...and Synagis. We did it for two years. It stinks, no doubt about it (especially when they are a little bit older), but compared to RSV (which Georgia had and ended up in the hospital for longer than when she had OHS!!! and it was HARDER than when she had OHS!!!) it's SO worth it. We were so glad that our insurance would cover it b/c it was so expensive...but yeah. I am glad we don't have to do it this year!

CLose, little hole, close!!!

Gosh, he looks great! That's quite a recovery.

Evan did the same thing after surgery...waking all the time. That lasted for about 6 weeks. I hope Dylan is kinder to you! Evan also still has a small hole that shouldn't pose any problems; it was in a place too risky to fix. Sending hole-closing vibes your way!

He's looking great. Sorry he isn't sleeping for you though. Maybe once he's caught up on eating he'll fall back into routine. Sending lots of closing the hole vibes Dylan's way.
